For a more in-depth look into each respective series, I suggest checking out the other Throwback Thursday posts on such (linked above). Through the collaboration of both series' producers, Level-5 and Capcom, these two unique worlds combine for a surprisingly well-suited adventure. Both of the main protagonists, Hershel Layton and Phoenix Wright, and their assistants, Luke Triton and Maya Fey, are transported to another world known as Labyrinthia. In this world, their stories are intertwined as they explore to solve intriguing mysteries and defend in court those accused of being "witches". Both of the series' staple gameplay mechanics of exploration, puzzles, and dramatic court cases are on fine display here, and really the alternation of segments between these two games makes for a nice change of pace so neither mechanic never overstays its welcome. If you never had the pleasure of trying either series, or if you've played one series but have always been curious of the other, this crossover serves as the perfect entry point to become accustomed to the characters, mechanics, and general vibes of both series. And it's a thrilling game in its own right too. Here's hoping the likes of this dynamic duo should return in some form again someday soon.

BONUS Throwback - Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
As a bonus addition to this Throwback Thursday, I thought it fitting to discuss one more game this week based off our recent discussions on both the Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton series, that being the unexpectedly perfect pairing and crossover that is Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
