Mario Kart Tour Beta Impressions

Many lucky Android owners who signed up for the beta of the upcoming mobile game that is Mario Kart Tour have been tearing up the raceways this past week.  As one of those fortunate few, I too have gotten plenty of hands-on time with this aspiring mobile take for the series and am here to share some personal impressions with those unable to play at this time.  Those eager to join in, worry not as the game is poised to exit beta and fully release later this summer.  Until then though, strap in and let's drift into some turbo-fueled hot takes:

Labo, Mario, and Zelda VR Impressions

To much everyone's surprise, Nintendo has jumped into the world of VR and delivered such to the public in the form of their creative cardboard crafts that is Labo.  Constructing a pair of goggles to house your Switch console alongside a wide assortment of other unique peripherals, Labo VR offers a surprisingly effective means in which to dive into this new world of virtual reality.  And to further sway / tempt curious onlookers to jump on board, free updates have been added to the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to include new VR modes.  With all that said, everyone's experience and expectations with VR are sure to differ, so are Nintendo's VR offerings worth the investment?  Allow me to share my personal impressions with all of the above and hopefully help you come to such just an answer for yourself.

Mario Kart VR Impressions

Last year, Mario Kart dabbled in the realm of virtual reality (VR) through a Tokyo arcade with Mario Kart Arcade GP VR, developed by Bandai Namco.  For those curious and eager to try such an experience state side, you're in luck as VR Zone arcades is now bringing several VR experiences to the US, including the much abuzz Mario Kart.  Their first venue is setup at Washington DC at Union Station, open until March 2019.  Unable to contain my intrigued interest at what the world of Nintendo can bring to VR, I went and partook in this experience this past week.  For those unable to reach this destination or just want a preview of the experience before diving into such themselves, allow me to share my thoughts and impressions on Mario Kart in VR.

E3 2017 - Event Impressions

E3 2017 has come and passed, but jet lag will always remain with us.  Sorry for the delay folks.  That jet lag really did take more of a toll than expected.  For those who noticed the absence of Sunday comics, expect such to return this coming weekend.  In the meantime, here are some impressions of the E3 event from attending as the average gamer, consumer, aspiring designer, and gaming enthusiast.

Nintendo's E3 2017 Booth - New Donk City, where the fun and funk never stops.

Walking onto the show floor the first day was an overwhelming spectacle to behold.  The colorful displays.  The mass of crowds.  Everything was calling for your attention, but it became quickly apparent that only so many would be able to partake in what there was to offer.  It was like a mix of a convention and a miniature theme park.  Even without the extra 15,000 first-time attendees, I can imagine this being a packed event.  With this addition though, it's clear that this event is experiencing some growing pains.  That's not to say it wasn't still a fun and exhilarating experience.  It was just an experience that needed some adjusted expectations and a fair share of patience.

ARMS Test-Punch Impressions

For many Nintendo Switch owners this weekend, we spent a few hours testing out the upcoming Nintendo fighter that is ARMS.  If you missed out, there will be another Global Test-Punch this coming weekend (June 2-4) of which I'll have the times posted at the bottom of this post.  While this Test-Punch is certainly helping provide Nintendo important feedback and test their servers, it also presents us a small taste of this game to help answer the ever-present question that comes with any new IP: Is it any good?  So here are a few early impressions on ARMS and what kind of punch it delivers (pun intended):

Early Impressions - Nintendo Switch

Hello fellow game enthusiasts!  I've been wanting to create a blog for some time now to share thoughts on games and hardware, share discussions on game experiences, enthuse about upcoming games, make silly comics and top 10 lists, and more.  So as I had the special honor to try the Nintendo Switch hands-on this past weekend, what better way to kick this off than with some impressions:
