Video Game Music for the Holidays - Volume IV

Tis the season to be jolly and be surrounded by such jingles everywhere you go.  For those who enjoy these holiday hums, but are looking for some reprise and variety to these repetitive licks, allow me to share then our next volume of Holiday Ambience - a continuing collection of music from video games, carefully selected to still fit the holiday vibe and general ambience.

This week's volume was compiled last year, 2016, the same year that the Nintendo Switch was first debuted to the world.  I may have cheated somewhat with the inclusion of "Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah)" by White Denim as this song isn't really from a video game, but its use in the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer perfectly encapsulates the tone and message of this album - To be yourself, and try to have a good time.  As such, you'll notice this collection of music has a much looser and overall funkier vibe.  With this, you'll hear the fun and joy of bands jamming to the likes of Earthbound to Donkey Kong Country and more, each in their own unique styling.

Go to the playlist on YouTube for time stamps to jump to the desired track, and for links to support some of these many talented artists.  If you have a particular favorite track or other notable music from games you wish to share, please comment and discuss below!  Thanks and look forward next week to our own reveal of this year's Holiday Ambience: 2017 Edition.

Fun Fact: Almost all the tracks from "I am Setsuna" were performed on solo piano by Randy Kerber, who has worked on major films such as Forrest Gump and Titanic.  The focus on piano was meant to tie into the game's themes of sadness and sorrow in its frozen, snowy over-world.
