Video Game Music for the Holidays - Volume V

For those who enjoy the merry music of the holidays, but fear being whammed by "Last Christmas" again and again, I'm happy to present this year's volume of Holiday Ambience - a continuing collection of music from video games, carefully selected to still fit the holiday vibe and general ambience.

These past few years, 2017 especially, have sported in my opinion some of the best video game soundtracks in recent history.  As such for this particular volume, I made sure to include select music from recent games such as Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Cuphead.  I was also surprised at how a fighting game like Skullgirls could have such fitting music for the holidays.  So you'll notice a variety of perhaps lesser known titles of various genres join the mix this year.  All together, this album makes for one jazzy, folk-like and sometimes tranquil collection.

Go to the playlist on YouTube for time stamps to jump to the desired track, and for links to support some of these many talented artists.  If you have a particular favorite track or other notable music from games you wish to share, please comment and discuss below!  I'll always appreciate suggestions for next year's volume of Holiday Ambience.

And for those who want to listen to all volumes of Holiday Ambience uninterrupted, you can view a playlist of all five volumes here.  That's roughly 4 hours worth of merry melodies for your listening pleasure.  I hope you enjoy this gift of music and have a very happy holiday!

Fun Fact: Yasunori Mitsuda is a video game composer known for his compositions of the esteemed Chrono Trigger series, Inazuma Eleven series, and Xeno series.  What you may not know is that he also worked as a composer for the first two Mario Party games.  Perhaps a subconscious reason why Mario Party is remembered so fondly despite the many friendships tested in this game.
